A distinguished figure in the Welsh bardic harp tradition, Thomas was appointed “Harpist to Her Majesty” by Queen Victoria in 1871.

Thomas' music embodies the elegance, lyrical nuance, and romantic allure that characterized 19th-century artistry. It invites listeners into a world of warmth and lavish celebrations with shimmering harps and regal pageantry.

Huw Boucher, a promising young Welsh harpist and both 2nd and 3rd prize winner at the prestigious USA International Harp Competition, stands as a uniquely authentic voice in reviving the long-forgotten music of John Thomas.

 

Drawing on a deep cultural connection, he brings this repertoire vividly back to life, an achievement made possible through the generous support of the Welsh Toronto Society.
