In a stunning fusion of Theatre and Music, Rita Costanzi — former harpist of the CBC Radio Orchestra and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra — presents the Toronto Premiere of her acclaimed solo play.

Adapted for the stage by Canadian Hershey Felder based on the writings of Rita Costanzi, audiences will leave inspired that the harp’s voice — delicate yet daring — can inhabit not just concert halls, but the heart of human experience.
“Woman on a Ledge” features music selections by Debussy, Tournier, Bach-Gounod, Puccini, Albinoni, Liszt, Paganini/ Mchedelov, Adam de la Halle, Behr, Kander and Ebb, and traditional Irish and Scottish folk-songs.
(Audience Age 14+ Recommended)
First harpist who made Broadway and Theatre history, Costanzi’s powerful, one-woman production breaks conventions, portraying the harp not only as a musical instrument but as a character, a confidante, and a mirror of the artist’s inner voice.
Through a blend of dramatic storytelling and live harp performance, “Woman on a Ledge” explores themes of faith, vulnerability, resilience, and transformation — revealing the emotional depths of a musician’s journey. Costanzi’s performance has been praised for its raw honesty and its ability to shatter preconceptions about the harp, proving that this ancient instrument can resonate powerfully in a modern theatrical setting.
